BaT Exclusive: Restored 1962 Citroen 2CV
3/10/2011 Update: This 2CV has been sold. Stay tuned for more BaT Exclusives!
From 12/14/2010:
This 1962 Citroen 2CV was imported to the USA on 12/5/1973 and has been fully restored. The lovely blue paint was applied in 2007 and was an accident and rust free example prior to that according to the seller. The car has been driven very little since the restoration and is currently without issue. It is registered and now available in Milford, Connecticut for $11,500. Contact us at mail@bringatrailer.com if you are interested.
The seller offers 20 pages of invoices of the work done to the car. This is the perfect French 2CV color in our mind, and the full soft-top and fold-up windows makes for a very fresh driving experience. Compare photos of others and you will find that this early 2nd-generation car comes together much nicer than many other 2CV’s thanks to tasteful lights, bumpers, and grille details.
The interior has a nicely contrasting dash and door panels, and the seats are the classic stretched fabric over metal frames.
This car is yet another example of “you couldn’t build it for that price,” and is only being sold due to a lack of time to use it. As odd as the driving experience and styling may be, there is something compelling about one in this condition. It is almost like it belongs in the movies or some sort of permanent photo-shoot. Check out the Flickr album slide-show below for more high resolution shots.
